What is Copy Text?

Copy Text is a free clipboard shelf for the things you paste again and again: a signature, an address, a reply you send every week, a link, a hashtag block, a code snippet, a prompt. Save each one as a note, and when you need it, click the note and it is copied. Your computer's own clipboard only remembers one thing at a time; this remembers as many as you like, for as long as you like.

How to use it

  • Save: paste or type into the box at the top and press Save (or Ctrl/⌘ + Enter). Paste & save grabs whatever is on your clipboard in one click.
  • Copy: click a note, or its Copy button. Then paste it where you need it.
  • Boards: keep different sets apart (Work, Home, Social, Code…). + Board makes a new one. Search looks across every board.
  • Pin, colour, reorder: pin your favourites to the top, colour-code notes, and drag the ⠿ handle to put them in your order.
  • Edit: the ✎ button edits the title and text, changes the colour and moves the note to another board.
  • Back up: More ▾ → Back up everything downloads a file you can restore on this or another device.

Notes that fill themselves in

Put {date}, {time}, {weekday}, {year} or {iso} in a note and it is replaced with the current value at the moment you copy it, so a reply that says “as of {date}” is always up to date. Type {{date}} if you want the literal text {date}.

Is it private?

Yes. Your notes are stored only in this browser (localStorage) and are never sent to a server, so don't keep anything here that you would not keep in a browser on that computer, such as passwords. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them, and they don't sync between devices, so use the backup file if they matter. More MES tools
