Grade 7 reading (literacy) practice
Grade 7 passages are longer and ask more of the reader: short stories with a theme, science and nature articles, free-verse and rhyming poems, a notice with a table and a persuasive letter. Questions practise inference, theme, figurative language (similes, personification), author's purpose and craft, text structure, counter-arguments and evidence, as well as written responses that need an opinion supported by details from the text.
Questions
- What makes a strong written answer?
- A clear statement that answers the question, two specific details or quotations from the passage, and a sentence that explains how those details support your answer.
