My polls
This list and the keys that let you close or delete your polls are kept only in this browser. To manage a poll from another computer, open it there with the link from Copy manager link.
Make a poll
Add a description (optional)
This publishes a real post on the Hive blockchain from your account, using the open polls format that PeakD, Ecency and HiveHub show as a poll. The question, choices and end time can never be changed afterwards (you can still edit the post text), and posts on Hive cannot be deleted.
Anyone with the link can vote. Polls are not listed anywhere and are not shown in search engines.
Your poll is ready
You can close or delete it from My polls on this page. The manager link carries your secret key: keep it to yourself, it lets anyone who has it close or delete the poll.
Open a poll
A free poll maker with no sign-up
Type a question and a few answers, press Create the poll, and share the short link (mes.fm/v/...). Anyone who opens it can vote with one tap and see the results as bars and a pie chart, updated live every few seconds while the poll is open. Use it in a group chat, a class, a livestream, a club or a family decision.
Choices you can make
- One option or several
- A single-choice poll takes one answer; a multiple-choice poll lets people tick up to the number you choose.
- When voting ends
- Keep it open until you close it yourself, close it after a set time (15 minutes, a day, a week ...), or at a date and time you pick. An open poll closes by itself after a year.
- Who sees the results
- Everyone at any time, only people who have voted (so nobody just follows the crowd), or nobody until voting ends.
- Changing a vote
- Off by default; turn it on if people may change their mind while the poll is open.
How one vote per person works (and its limits)
There are no accounts, so the page gives each browser a random number and lets it vote once per poll. A few votes are allowed from the same network (a school, an office or a phone network share one internet address), and then that network is full for that poll. This stops casual repeat voting. It cannot stop someone who clears their browser data or uses several devices or networks, so do not use these polls for anything that needs a real election.
Polls on Hive
Choose On Hive to publish the poll as a post from your Hive account in the open polls format that PeakD, Ecency and HiveHub use, so it shows up as a poll there too. Hive accounts vote with Hive Keychain (a free "custom_json" operation signed with the posting key, no fee). This page counts the votes itself: it asks PeakD's open polls node who voted, then reads each vote from its block on the Hive blockchain and applies the poll's rules (votes after the end time do not count, an account's latest vote wins unless changes are off, the minimum account age). You can open any Hive poll here by pasting its PeakD link.
Privacy
The poll (question, options, settings) and the vote counts are stored on our server until 60 days after the poll closes, then they are deleted. We keep which browser number picked which option (so it cannot vote twice) but never your name, and your internet address only as a scrambled code used to count votes per network. Your list of polls and the keys to manage them stay in your own browser. See the privacy policy.
Questions
- Can I edit a poll after making it?
- No, so nobody can change the question under the voters. Close or delete it and make a new one.
- Can I see who voted for what?
- No. Only the totals are shown, to everyone including you.
- Why does it say my network already voted?
- Each poll takes a few votes per internet address. On shared Wi-Fi, try your phone's mobile data.
Counting down to the result? Make a reminder link for the closing time. Picking a winner at random instead? Try the random number generator or the dice roller.
