Final Grade Calculator
Free final grade calculator: find out what grade you need on your final exam to get the course grade you want. Enter your current grade or your assignments, save all your courses, try what-if scores and share your results to another device.
Enter what you have been graded on so far: a score and what it was out of (or just the grade %), and how much it counts towards the course. Rows with a weight but no score yet are treated as still to come. Whatever weight is left is your final exam.
What you need for each target
Letter labels use the common US scale (90% = A-); your school's cut-offs may differ.

How the final grade calculator works
Your course grade is a weighted average: each part of the course counts for a share of the total. Once you know how much of the course is already graded, the grade you need on what is left follows from one formula:
needed on the final = (target − current × (100 − final weight) / 100) ÷ final weight × 100
For example, with a current grade of 78%, a final worth 40% and a target of 80%: 78 × 60 / 100 = 46.8 points are already banked, so you need (80 − 46.8) ÷ 40 × 100 = 83% on the final. If the answer is above 100% the target is out of reach; if it is zero or below, you have already secured it.
Using it
- Know your current grade? Choose Yes, type it with the weight of the final exam.
- Don’t? Choose No and list your assignments, tests and labs with their scores and weights. The calculator works out your current grade, and the weight left over is your final exam.
- Several courses? Press + Course. Each course keeps its own target and assignments, and the All my courses table shows what you need in every one.
- What if? Slide the what-if score to see the course grade you would finish with.
- Another device? Copy the link under Save and share and open it on the other device.
Questions
What grade do I need on my final to get an A?
Set the target to 90 (an A- on the common US scale) or 93 (an A), enter your current grade and the final’s weight, and read the result. The table lists every target from 40% to 100% at once.
Can I use it if my final is worth 100%?
Yes. With a weight of 100 your current grade does not matter: you need the target grade itself on the exam.
What if my course uses points instead of percentages?
Enter each assignment’s points earned and points possible as the score and out-of, and its share of the course as the weight. If every assignment simply counts by its points, use Even weights… or the Weighted Average Calculator.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything stays in your browser (localStorage) and only leaves it if you copy a link and share it yourself. Clearing your browser’s site data deletes your courses, so use a backup or a link if they matter. GPA Calculator · Study tips · Tutorial
