Your sets of picks are saved in this browser as you go. A link carries the name and the picks, nothing else, and nothing is stored on a server: whoever opens it gets the picks as a new set, scored on the day they look.

Leaderboard

Everyone’s picks are scored against the same live standings, worked out on the server. Picks made after the season started are marked with how many games had been played, so early birds get the credit; playoff picks close when the playoffs start.

Track your NFL standings, playoff seeds and Super Bowl picks against the live table

MES NFL Picks checks your predicted order of the AFC and NFC (the 16 teams of each conference, which is also your playoff seeding: 1-4 division winners, 5-7 wild cards), the eight divisions and the whole league (1 to 32) against the current NFL standings, and scores your playoff picks (divisional round, conference championship games, Super Bowl and champion) as the games are played. Every pick is joined to where the team is now in a picture, coloured by how far off it is.

How the scores work

Exact, within 1, 2 or 3 spots, right tier (division winner seeds 1-4, wild card 5-7, out 8-16), right side of the line (in or out of the 7 playoff seeds), points (3 exact, 2 one off, 1 two off), closeness and Spearman’s ρ. Teams on the same record share their spots while the tie-breakers mean little. Playoff picks earn 1 point for each divisional-round team you got right, 2 for each conference finalist, 4 for each Super Bowl team and 8 for the champion.

Questions

Where do the standings come from?

From ESPN’s public standings and scoreboard feeds, refreshed about every 10 minutes. The conference order is ESPN’s playoff seeding, so division winners sit at the top even with a worse record than a wild card.

What does “whole league” rank by?

Win percentage (a tie counts as half a win), then wins: the same order as the draft before tie-breakers, upside down.

Is anything about me stored?
